A lot of things are kept a secret here at Canadian Honey Ham., mostly our special Honey Spice Glaze. Putting all that aside, we've decided to share a few great recipes with you. Enjoy!
Canadian Honey Ham Casserole
4 Cups Canadian Honey Ham - Chopped
1/2 Cup Sherry
2 Tomatoes (Chopped)
1/2 Green Pepper (Chopped)
1 Onion (Chopped)
1/2 Cup of Cream
2 Cups of Cooked Rice
1 tbsp. Dry Mustard
1 tbsp. of Worcestershire Sauce
(Salt & Pepper to taste)
Combine all ingredients in casserole dish. Top with 1 cup bread crumbs tossed in 1/2 cup of margarine.
Sprinkle with paprika & bake at 350o for 45 minutes.
Canadian Honey Ham and Scalloped Potatoes
1-1/2 lbs. Canadian Honey Ham - sliced
4 - 6 Medium Potatoes - thinly sliced
1 Large Onion
1/2 Cup flour
1 Can Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
(mixed with equal part water or milk)
1/3 Cup Butter
(Salt & Pepper to taste)
Butter casserole dish, place 1-1/2 layers of potatoes, 1 layer of onion, & 1 layer of Canadian Honey Ham.
Finish with 1 layer of potatoes.
Sprinkle each layer with flour, dabs of butter & seasonings, top off with soup mixture.
Bake at 350o for 1 hour.
* For a nice variation, try cream of cheddar cheese soup.
Split Pea Soup
1 Canadian Honey Ham Bone
1 Cup Celery (Chopped)
1 Large Onion
1 Carrot - Finely Diced
1 Bay Leaf
1 lb. Split Peas
2 Sprigs Parsley
(Salt & Pepper to taste)
1 Cup Sour Cream (optional)
Place all ingredients (except Sour Cream) in a large pot & cover with cold water - bring to a boil, then lower heat and allow to simmer for several hours until peas are soft.
Remove bone and chop any leftover meat.
Put soup mix through a blender, then return to pot with the chopped meat, add Sour Cream, stir & serve.
For chunky version, eliminate blender step & Sour Cream.
Honey Ham and Cabbage Soup
2 cups of Honey Ham diced
1/2 cabbage chopped
3 potatoes diced
2 large carrots diced
1 bunch of green onions diced with tops
5 cups Chicken stock (oxo or similiar)
In a large soup pot saute carrots, potatoes and onions in butter.
Add chopped cabbage and saute 5 minutes more.
Add 2-3 tablespoons of flour and mix well adding more butter if necessary.
Add chopped ham, chicken stock and water season to taste and simmer until cabbage is tender.
